These creations are made using wool fibers and a felting needle. Tiny prongs, on the felting needle, catch the fibers and pack them into the center of a wad of fibers. After many, many stabbings with the needle, it becomes a firm "ball". More fibers are added to change and form the desired shape. This is actually sculpting with wool - in the same way that you would sculpt with clay.
