About The Artist
Marcia Dundore Wolter graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's of Art Degree in Fine and Applied Art and an Art Masters degree in art education. While teaching at Urbana High school , Marcia spend any spare time available painting in oils and watercolor.
A transfer to Morris, Illinois changed her career to an adventure in the field of doll art - creating porcelain dolls for the next twenty years. She sculpted the doll parts in clay - then created the molds to use for pouring the porcelain. Her doll adventure expanded to sculpting polymer clay dolls, in the later years, and eventually cloth art dolls.
As the doll industry began to change and collectors of large dolls began to disappear, Marcia returned to her first love - painting - and also began developing her talents with needle felting (sculpting with wool fibers).
Marcia has had a doll website since 1993 at www.dundoredolls.com. All of her work can be seen there until this website is completed. Then the Dundore Dolls site will be retired along with her doll making emphasis.
Marcia lives in Morris with her husband, Ralph. They have three sons and 11 grandchildren.
